Cloudy with a Chance of Games

During a talk with Kinda Funny Games Xcast, the subject of Stadia was brought up along with Amazon in regards to xCloud. Alanah Pearce asked the question was Microsoft paying attention to Stadia and paying attention to the criticisms that Stadia has faced for the launch of xCloud. Major Nelson was candid in his response which you can see below.

In his response, he did say that this isn’t news that Microsoft sees “a Google” and “Amazon” as competitors as Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has stated before. The interesting thing from the answer was that he had an active Stadia Sub. He did not indicate if he enjoyed only he had a subscription.

This goes to show again that in the games industry that consoles and platforms do not matter. People at Xbox, Nintendo, Sony all play on each other systems. It is the games that matter not where and how you play them. With gaming moving to cloud-based platforms will be agnostic so it will not matter what you game on.

I have been playing since the Commodore 64 days and have basically played every console going since then including the Ouya! I have been a fan of cloud gaming since the Onlive days and that was my favorite platform. Cloud gaming will revolutionize how we play games going forward and it is just a matter of time when it takes off.
