Good news for cloud gamers on iOS as GeForce Now is launching for iOS devices today. However, there are a number of catches. Firstly this will be done via the browser through https://play.geforcenow.com/ so it does not have an app. Also in order to play, you will need a controller connected to your iOS device. There is also another caveat in that keyboard and mouse games will not be available. Finally, the big game in Fortnite will not be available at launch because they are looking to implement touch controls into the game.
So there is a lot to take in there. The big takeaway is that you can now play on GeForce now on iOS. This means you will be able to play on your iPhone and your iPad. The reason for the hoops you need to jump through is Apple’s policies so this is GeForce getting around some of these. While the lack of keyboard and mouse is support is understandable and is likely there to avoid confusion.
Fortnites not being available is an interesting one. While its great that touch controls are being added in for GeForce and I understand the reasoning for this however it is disappointing you will not be able to access this game.
Overall this is great news for GeForce Now and I can’t wait to play on my iOS devices.
