Epic Games has announced that they are dropping the price of vBucks by 20% if you use the Epic payment method. For gamers on console and PC (including GeForce Now), you do not need to do anything. If you play Fortnite on iOS and Android to benefit from you will need to select Epic direct payment as your payment option.

Today, we’re also introducing a new way to pay on iOS and Android: Epic direct payment. When you choose to use Epic direct payments, you save up to 20% as Epic passes along payment processing savings to you.

Currently, when using Apple and Google payment options, Apple and Google collect a 30% fee, and the up to 20% price drop does not apply. If Apple or Google lower their fees on payments in the future, Epic will pass along the savings to you.

This is part of the long going battle Epic has had with Apple and Google in regards to the fees that Google and Apple charge on their App Stores.

Also today as part of Fortnite Mega Drop is a free  Shooting Starstaff Pickaxe to all active players.

Players that purchased V-Bucks or purchased a real-money offer like Summer Legends in the last 30 days (July 14, 2020 – August 13, 2020) will be granted a V-Bucks bonus by August 17! The V-Bucks bonus will be 20% of the total purchase amount during that time frame.

The new pricing is stated as $7.99 / € 7.99 for 1000 vBucks. If you support a creator when buying vBucks this is unaffected by the changes.

I have been playing since the Commodore 64 days and have basically played every console going since then including the Ouya! I have been a fan of cloud gaming since the Onlive days and that was my favorite platform. Cloud gaming will revolutionize how we play games going forward and it is just a matter of time when it takes off.
