Cloudy with a Chance of Games

Stadia Pro 3 month memberships have started to run out and it has now been discovered that the free to play version of Destiny 2 is locked behind the Pro Subscription. Multiplayer on Stadia is free however not for Free to Play titles.

This differs from GeForce Now in that Free to Play games are available in their free option. Stadia have been vocal that multiplayer is free on Stadia however with the Free to Play games they have remained non committal. Now we know the answer in this regard.

This may cause Stadia issues going forward as Free to Play titles are some of the most popular games for example Fortnite if it came to the platform. Stadia could have saved themselves a lot of heartache if they followed the console route and said multiplayer games you needed the Pro subscription.

This is not the end of the world for Stadia however it presents GeForce now, Amazon, Xbox and other cloud providers an opportunity to exploit. For example Shadows new tier of £15 a month is slightly more than Stadia and with that you can access Free to Play games on top of the free games and lower prices on PC.

Stadia has the convenience factor and arguably the best cloud service at this moment in time and we think it is the best place to play Destiny 2. This news however will affect the already low player base in Destiny 2 unless the Stadia Base launch is around the corner.
