Cloudy with a Chance of Games

Before talking about the comparison in case, you missed the news we have teamed up with Cloud Gaming Xtreme. We will be showcasing a number of their videos going forward as no one does deep dives on Cloud gaming platforms like them. In this comparison, the team compares Hitman on Shadow, Stadia, and GeForce Now. The tests are run on Mac Chrome Browser and at 1080p.

The test focuses on Loading speed, Graphics and also measures frame-rate.

For the loading speed in the game in the first instance – Stadia comes out on top at 38 seconds followed by Shadow at 41 and Geforce Now at 51 seconds. With GeForce Now, it has the extra layers to go into the game however appears run comparable after loading. Shadow and GeForce Now come out more or less neck in neck.

Graphics – GeForce now comes out on top followed by Shadow then Stadia. There is not much separating GeForce Now and Shadow however GeForce Now does give some extra details. Stadia appears to have some fuzziness in places and less detailed. Note these could be caused by the Mac Chrome client.

Frame rate – GeForce Now and Stadia seem to have a stable while on Shadow PC it was dipping into the 40fps. With Shadow, you are able to change the settings to make it run smoother however this will come at the cost of the graphical fidelity.

All in all, Hitman runs well on all the platforms. Please check out the video above which goes into a lot more detail. Hitman can be picked up for free via the Epic Game store (for a couple of hours) and is available as a Stadia Pro game.

I have been playing since the Commodore 64 days and have basically played every console going since then including the Ouya! I have been a fan of cloud gaming since the Onlive days and that was my favorite platform. Cloud gaming will revolutionize how we play games going forward and it is just a matter of time when it takes off.
