One of the drivers of cloud gaming will be the use of 5G mobile networks. 5G will reduce the need to have a internet provider to use and remove another barrier to gaming. The UK government has been under pressure to remove Chinese firm Huawei from providing 5G infrastructure. They are bowed to this political pressure and now Huawei will not allowed to proceed
It's official, the UK is banning Huawei from 5G networks. Operators will not be able to buy Huawei equipment by end of the year, and will have to remove Huawei equipment by 2027. This will cost £2 billion and "delay our rollout of 5G" in the UK.— Tom Warren (@tomwarren) July 14, 2020
From a cloud gaming perspective in the UK this may reduce the take up of mobile gaming as there are only a few cities that have 5G. Removing Huawei will likely delay the rollout to new towns and cities.
